HI, I’M alex
an empathetic, detail obsessed, hybrid designer committed to delivering strong, comprehensive design strategies and solutions.
—
I have over 4 years of experience generating a variety of commercial, industrial and consumer products. I am a strong sketcher, strategizer and renderer.
I pursued industrial design from the moment I learned about the profession and the program at Syracuse University. Plenty of shop dust, computer crashes and marker fumes later, I won the 2017 IDSA Student Merit Award and earned a Bachelor of Industrial Design (B.I.D.) degree with a minor in Economics.
Design Approach
It is important to realize that design does not always result in something you can touch. Sure, it could be a tactile product, or it could be a space, a system, a practice, or even research. What precedes the design problem? Perhaps the scope is bigger or smaller than it has been made out to be. A brief is not written in stone. A creative and effective solution starts with curiosity and efficiency.
Rather than analyzing what one thinks of a design when gathering insights, I analyze how it makes the intended user feel. It is the designer’s job to digest those feelings and use them to their advantage.

Design Interest
The marriage between a physical object and a digital platform has always been of interest to me. More and more we are seeing these two realms become intertwined. It is becoming harder to determine where the software ends and the hardware begins and I am here for it. With technology on our side, design has become heavily directed towards an experience.
Terms like “smart home” and “hands-free” drive interactions that are better framed as experiences.
—
The user experience is what I center my work around, whether that be digital, physical or a combination of the two. I hold user research to a high standard.
—
The environment is important to me. Products should be designed with the intent of living long, fluid lives. Materials should be robust, durable and manufactured as green as possible. Shifting the way we create will shift the way we consume.
—
Technology is only as good as the way it is packaged. As a designer, keeping up with emerging technologies can only better prepare you for finding a your next creative solution. I am excited to design and witness the emerging wave of less-disruptive tech.

Design Perspective
Design connects the dots in the space between our imagination and reality. It creates a visual dialogue and evokes emotion. The most successful solutions are designed with empathy at every step.
Communicating visually gets a concept/idea across to the receiving end better than any number of descriptive words could.
The beauty of design is that there is always room for improvement. I am never finished learning.
other Interests
I love working with wood, taking night photography and looking at 1970s/1980s era European cars. Sneakers are my shoe type of choice and I like to stay up to date with what the footwear industry is doing. While I love designing hard goods, I definitely have a soft spot for soft goods. I am currently working on my first couple of post-grad bag designs that I am sewing on a Singer machine.
I love to cook almost as much as I love to eat. I like my coffee black and my beer cloudy.
I also enjoy connecting and having conversation. Please see the contact page if you would like to reach out!
